Lawrence M. Shuer, MD, FAANS

 

Professor of Neurosurgery, Vice Chair for Quality of the Neurosurgery Department at Stanford University

 

Dr. Lawrence M. Shuer received his medical degree from The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  He completed his training as a Resident in Neurosurgery at Stanford University.  He then joined the faculty of Stanford Neurosurgery and has been caring for patients with Brain, Spinal Cord and Peripheral Nerve tumors for over 30 years.  He has served as Acting Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery, Chief of Staff of Stanford Hospital and Clinics and Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Affairs in the past.  He participates actively in the Neuro-oncology tumor board as well as the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center.

 

He is a Past President of the Western Neurosurgical Society, The California Association of Neurological Surgeons.  He was a Southwest Quadrant Chair of the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies and thus a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons Board of Directors during that tenure.  He was a guest examiner for the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.

 

Lawrence Shuer is married to Paula Anne Shuer since 1976.  They have three daughters and three son-in-laws and five grandchildren.
