Victoria Hale, PhD

Dr. Victoria Hale is a pharmaceutical scientist/executive and global public health social entrepreneur. Her focus areas include global/public health and integrative medicine. She was Founder and CEO of two successful nonprofit pharmaceutical companies: OneWorld Health (tropical infections) and Medicines360 (reproductive health). OneWorld Health was the first nonprofit pharmaceutical company in the US, targeting visceral leishmaniasis, malaria, cholera and Chagas; Meds360 developed and secured FDA approval for a new hormonal intrauterine device (IUD; Liletta(R)). She has raised $230M in philanthropic funding primarily from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and one Anonymous donor. She is a MacArthur Fellow, has been inducted into the National Academy of Medicine, and is Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences at UCSF. She has been recognized as an outstanding global social entrepreneur by Ashoka, Skoll and Schwab (WEF) Foundations. Her drug development experience was obtained at the FDA and Genentech. She earned her PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at UCSF and was recently awarded UCSF Alumna of the Year (Graduate Division).
